Browns Mills, N.J.—Deborah Heart and Lung Center was recently honored with the Women’s Choice Award for Best Hospitals™ for exceptional women’s healthcare in the categories of heart care and patient safety.  It ranked in the top 6% of hospitals in both categories.

Deborah was one of 441 hospitals nationwide to be recognized for heart care, and was one of only seven hospitals in New Jersey to receive the award.

Deborah was one of 457 hospitals nationwide to be recognized for patient safety, and one of only 11 hospitals in New Jersey earning the award.

The Women’s Choice Award honors hospitals throughout the country that demonstrate exceptional women’s healthcare in various specialties. This year, more than 1,500 facilities were recognized nationwide across all categories.

For the heart care category, hospitals offering at least six of these common clinical procedures or services were eligible for the award: cardiac catheter lab, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac surgery, carotid stenting, coronary intensive care, coronary interventions, electrophysiology, vascular intervention and vascular surgery.

Each year, Women’s Choice Award uses quality measures of low mortality and readmission rates, as well as Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) data, to evaluate which hospitals receive the Women’s Choice Best Hospitals for Heart Care award. For the Women’s Choice Best Hospitals for Patient Safety award, hospitals are ranked based on their low incidence of surgical events and low infection rates.

Women’s Choice Award weighs its methodology based on female patient preferences to arrive at an objective and uniform scoring system. Hospitals that rank in the top 15% earn awards.
