Does your heart race, feel faint or lightheaded, or do you feel a flutter in your chest? These may be signs of an arrhythmia. Heart rhythm problems, or arrhythmias, occur when the heart beats too fast, too slow or in an irregular pattern. There are many types of arrhythmias. One of the most common is atrial fibrillation or AFib. This type of arrhythmia can lead to increased risk of stroke. On this episode of the Hurley in the Morning radio show, Pedram Kazemian, MD discusses arrhythmias, their symptoms and causes.
Arrhythmias may be caused by medical conditions such as heart attack, sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure and thyroid issues. Lifestyle and genetics may also cause arrhythmias. Dr. Kazemian shares how arrhythmias are diagnosed and the latest treatments available to manage them, including minimally invasive procedures, pulsed field ablation and the newest pacemakers. Learn more about heart rhythm disorders and how to manage them.
